About Jamie Oliver

Jamie Oliver started cooking at his parents' pub, The Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, at the age of eight. After leaving school he began a career as a chef that took him to the River Café, where he was famously spotted by a television production company. His approachable and easy-to-do cuisine has seen him front numerous television including The Naked Chef which aired in 1999 on the BBC, followed by his first cook book under the same name. His television work included a documentary, Jamie's Kitchen, which gained him an invitation from Prime Minister at the time, Tony Blair to visit 10 Downing Street. He has also been involved with introducing schoolchildren to healthier foods under the Feed Me Better initiative.
